The Design Activist
From time to time Richard publishes zines. These are published under the name "The Design Activist" and are typically ways to interrogate our current built environment and propose solutions outside of present norms.

Influenced in part by Anne Thorpe's early work "Design as Activism", these small graphic illustrations are geared specifically towards a certain audience and contain messages that suggest we should not outsource our rights to the city.
Art Museum, Orlando Style
In the Smoker's niche at Stardust, there is taped to the wall a design proposal for the Orlando Museum of Art site. Sketched on a Stardust napkin, the sketch has been up for a month. If the Museum board were to meet here to hash out their future, this presentation could save their bacon. But they won't be here, so this exists as a sort of street-art attempt at suggesting a possible future.
Fashion Square
Feasibility Study

Try to imagine the potential of this abandoned shopping mall.
Urban Four Three

Traditional style large homes on small lots don't fit everywhere. Come explore the idea of a large home on an urban small lot.
The Necropolis of Ideas

This is a theoretical proposal for a theme park. With rides like Nicholas de Cosa's Tower of Ignorance, Promenade of Isms, and Ontological Coaster, it fits right into the Central Florida scene.
Commune
Design study for 42 car-free dwelling units based on my observations of the spatial quality of African villages, built on elevated deck over service level and adjacent to agricultural land.
