Skift announces IDEA Awards 2024: Meet a few of the Winners
Cultural Heritage Tourism wins the day, it seems. Voyages Indigenous Tourism Australia is the lead-off, winning in the category of Activities and Attractions. Maybe the Anangu peoples can teach us a little bit about respect for the land and sustainability down under.
Meanwhile in the category of hotels, TFE Hotels wins in the Innovator category with a Berlin six-room micro-hotel. Is this, in reality, a bed-and-breakfast? Or is it some kind of a wierd AirBnB?
THF Hotel Berlin. The rooms are nice and clean, simple furnishing. The looming spherical light is a mite threatening. It would be creepy/cool if it changed color and moved randomly around the room.
$85,000 Prefab wins in Industry Innovator category: Tomu Villas.
Tomu prefab villas, 25m2 and on up. Tomu lists Paulina Herriford as the architectural designer.
One of the most handsome prefab designs to come along in recent years, Tomu offers these as either living or lodging products. They're a little elusive about where these are actually made, and what often eats up the budget of prefabs is shipping costs. Nevertheless, a nice nod to good design with these and best of luck to them. We always dreamed of doing the Rita as a hotel room, so this might be a good test for the concept.
Other winners were announced in the tech and business innovation categories as well. We'll keep an eye on future announcements and attempt to draw some conclusions when we have a chance.
